Rituxan?

topic posted Sun, December 4, 2005 - 9:18 PM by  Bellaflora
Has anyone had any experience with Rituxan? I have Lupus (SLE) and Nephritis. At this point, I'm working on 50% kidney function. I'm using Cellcept and kidneys are getting better. My Nephrologist and Rheumatologist are suggesting Rituxan as an alternative to Cellcept, a major immunosuppressive. I would love to learn more about it from someone who has tried it.

no, i am sorry. the only time i had kidney involvement, i was put right on dialysis and luckily it turned out to be temporary. that was 3 years ago, when I had ARDS, as a result of pancreatitis (from taking Depakote for seizures.) My kidneys are fine now, but I continue to have neurological involvement. I hope you can find the info you need though.

OMG kidney involvement scares the living piss out of me. I am sorry that didn't come out right.

I am glad to hear that you can go to dialysis and actually get improvment.

Thats thae thing I dread the most, OMG sometimes I think to myself "If I go on Dialysis my life is truely over."

I am so glad to hear differently,

I haven';t need those type of drugs and I don't want to take them. But now you tell me if there is kidney involvement it is necessary...this is all too horrible to contemplate

ouch ouch ouch I am so anxious now,.

Creatnine level results, which measure kindney function, came back today. Kidney function is back to normal by using Cellcept and Prednisone. I've actually talked to and read about many people who have gone on dialysis temporarily and had improved kidney function and many if not all their lupus symptoms went away, so I'm not so afraid of it.
For now, I'll be on Cellcept until we decide to try Rituxan, a molecular clone of one protein. Exciting stuff.
